The Cost of Telling My Own Story: Memoir, Fear and the Freedom to Write
My purpose in writing this memoir is to critically examine and recount my experiences of the sexual relationship and institutional response, while also reflecting on the complexities of self-representation within these contexts. I am caught between two powerful fears: being silenced by external constraints and the uncertain consequences of speaking openly. This central tension shapes every aspect of my attempt to narrate my own experiences.
